Deportation Ordered

BOSTON () -- A 35-year-old Russian man who immigration officials say is wanted for up to 15 murders in his homeland was ordered deported immediately by a federal judge.

Immigration Judge Thomas Ragno said Tuesday that Alexei Yakhkind of St. Petersburg violated the terms of his six-month visitor's visa when he told immigration officials he was going to Boston but went first to Patterson, New Jersey.

The fact that prosecutors say Yakhkind is accused of murder at home was not a factor in his deportation. But lawyers for the Immigration and Naturalization Service said Russian authorities will be waiting for him when he arrives home for his alleged participation in the murders of up to 15 mainly elderly Russians who were slain for the leases on their apartments.
