Alleged Gunner in Jail

HOBART, Australia -- The Australian man charged with murder in relation to the massacre of 35 people in Tasmania was transferred earlier than expected from hospital to a maximum security prison Sunday, police said.

Martin Bryant, 28, was taken by ambulance from the Royal Hobart Hospital to an isolated section of Risdon Prison in the island state's capital because of continuing threatening telephone calls to hospital staff, a police spokesman said.

Bryant was being treated in an isolated section of the hospital for burns to his back and buttocks after fleeing a burning cottage last Monday.
