Weather Slows Search

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, Far East () -- Avalanches and bad weather are hampering the search for the remains of 21 people who were aboard a plane that crashed on the Kamchatka Peninsula, reports said Thursday.

An avalanche Wednesday night in the mountainous crash area did not harm searchers, but the risk of further avalanches is high, officials told Interfax.

Twelve passengers and nine crew members are believed to have been on the Il-76 cargo plane that slammed into the slopes of a volcano last Friday.
