U.S. Backs Debt Deal

WASHINGTON -- Russian Finance Minister Vladimir Panskov said he had won support from U.S. Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin for a long-term debt rescheduling agreement for Russia.

"We hope these agreements will be signed at the end of April," he said at semi-annual IMF and World Bank meetings. Russia will hold talks Thursday and Friday with the Paris Club of creditor nations to try to finalize a major long-term rescheduling accord.
