Soccer Star Fools Fans

STOCKHOLM () -- Swedish soccer star Tomas Brolin is so frustrated with Leeds United that he joined forces with a television network for an April Fool's gag to make the point.

On Monday night, Sweden's SVT television broadcast a report saying the World Cup star would be heading to a Swedish team after failing to become a regular starter with Leeds United.

To make things seem more authentic, the state-owned network included a telephone interview with Brolin.

"Yes, I will be on loan to Norrkoping for the rest of the spring season,'' Brolin, 26, told SVT, adding that he hoped to play for another team in Europe in the fall.

However, an hour later SVT admitted the story was a hoax.
