Plant 'Incidents' Down

MOSCOW () -- The number of malfunctions registered by Russian nuclear power plants last year dropped to 95 from 128 in 1994, said Anatoly Zemskov, public relations director of the Russian state nuclear power concern Rosenergoatom, Interfax reported.

He said only three of the 95 malfunctions in 1995 were categorized as "incidents" -- level one and higher according to the International Nuclear Event Scale. In 1994 there were nine such "incidents," in 1993 -- 29 and in 1992 -- 32, the news agency reported him as saying.

An investigation was opened to determine the reason for the crash.

They were all crossed off the election list before last fall's elections.
