New Cricket Records

SINGAPORE () -- Sanath Jayasuriya slammed one-day cricket's fastest century and set two other world records Tuesday as his breathtaking 134 helped Sri Lanka defeat Pakistan by 34 runs in the Singer Cup tournament.

Put into bat first, Sri Lanka amassed 349 runs for nine wickets in 50 overs in which Kumara Dharmasena, batting No. 8, contributed a career-best 51.

Besides the fastest century -- he reached it in 48 balls -- Jayasuriya entered the record books for two other feats: He hit 11 sixes in his 134, the most in a one-day innings, and also made 29 runs in an over by Aamir Sohail, the highest ever made in one over in a limited-overs match.

Sohail also bowled a wide while his orthodox left-arm spins were blasted over the ropes four times by Jaysuriya as he conceded 30 runs in that over.
