More Trouble for Irvin

DALLAS () -- Michael Irvin says he was the target of extortionists who threatened to blow up his lawyer's office unless the All-Pro wide receiver of the Dallas Cowboys paid $120,000.

A man sent to collect the money last week was arrested, Irvin told a Dallas radio station. The extortionists claimed the debts were for drugs, he said.

Authorities were waiting when the man arrived for the cash. "We tell him we need to see his boss to get a receipt,'' Irvin said Wednesday. "He goes and gets his boss and they come back to get the money. Well, of course, they arrest them right there because it's extortion.''

Norm Kinne, Dallas County's first assistant district attorney, confirmed key details of the account, as did Irvin's attorney, Kevin Clancy. Irvin was indicted recently on charges of drug possession.
