Jets Turn Into Coyotes

PHOENIX () -- The Winnipeg Jets will become the Phoenix Coyotes next National Hockey League season and will wear uniforms of dark green, brick, purple, sand and black.

The Jets, who joined the NHL in 1979-80, have worn blue and red since their inception in the World Hockey Association in 1972.

Their new logo will consist of an upright coyote wearing an extra-long mask styled to resemble a menacing Hopi kachina figure from northern Arizona.
