Hungary Courts Aid

BUDAPEST -- The IMF and the World Bank should not neglect emerging East European economies in order to help poorer countries, Hungary said Thursday.

"It's very important that the financial world, the international institutions, should continue to support countries in transition," Finance Ministry state secretary Laszlo Akar told a news conference.

Akar, who attended the IMF/World Bank semi-annual gathering this week in Washington, said the international financial institutions have not given up helping ex-communist countries in transition.
