Dutch Boxer Keeps Belt

DEN BOSCH, Netherlands () -- Regilio Tuur, the World Boxing Organization junior lightweight champion, beat Mexico's Narcisco Valenzuela to retain his belt for the fifth time.

Tuur did not manage to knock the Mexican challenger down in the grueling 12-round bout Monday at the Maaspoort sports center, but the three judges all had the Dutch title holder ahead at the end.

Tuur weighed in Sunday at 58.8 kilograms, his more experienced challenger, 58.9 kilograms, but Valenzuela could not put the slight weight advantage to use against the champion.

The result took Tuur's professional record to 42 wins, three defeats and one tie. Valenzuela's record slipped to 41 wins, 19 defeats and two split decisions.
