Chiefs' Allen Re-Signs

KANSAS CITY, Missouri -- Marcus Allen, the Kansas City Chiefs' most productive offensive player for three National Football League seasons, has been re-signed by the team.

Officials would not disclose terms on Wednesday's three-year contract.

The eighth-ranked rusher in National Football League history, Allen had indicated after the Chiefs' loss to Indianapolis in the first round of last season's playoffs that he might retire.

Allen led the Chiefs with 890 rushing yards last year, his 14th season in the National Football League, as the Chiefs led the league in rushing. He also became the first player in NFL history to ring up more than 10,000 yards rushing and 5,000 receiving.

In three seasons with Kansas City, Allen has twice been named the team's Most Valuable Player. He has carried 602 times for 2,363 yards, with 24 touchdowns, while catching 103 passes for 797 yards and three scores.
