Boiler Explosion Kills 4

MOSCOW () -- A new boiler blew up in an asphalt plant in the central Russian city of Samara, killing four people and injuring two, an official said Friday.

The boiler blew up because the workers did not operate it properly, violating safety rules, according to Tatyana Timoshenkova, a spokeswoman for the Emergency Situations Ministry. Three fire brigades were involved in putting out the blaze that began after the blast.

Samara is situated on the Volga River, about 900 kilometers southeast of Moscow.
