U.S. Seeks Bomber

VLADIVOSTOK, Far East () -- A U.S.-Russian commission Thursday asked Russia's Pacific Fleet for help in searching for the remains of a U.S. bomber crew shot down by Soviet jets 43 years ago.

American members of the commission met with Rear Admiral Oleg Faleyev and told him the United States would pay all costs in the search for the B-50 shot down in the Soviet Far East, Interfax reported. The B-50 allegedly violated Soviet air space on July 29, 1953, and was shot down by MiG-17 jet fighters over the sea near Askold Island off Russia's Pacific coast.
