Shuttle Launch Delayed

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida () -- High wind forced NASA to delay Atlantis' launch to link up with the Russian space station Mir until Friday.

Shuttle managers decided late Wednesday, just before fueling Atlantis, to postpone the docking mission by a day.

Gusts of more than 45 kilometers per hour were expected at the launch pad Thursday morning, when Atlantis was supposed to blast off.

Atlantis is supposed to drop off supplies and astronaut Shannon Lucid, who will spend nearly five months on Mir.
