Serial Killer Arguments

SYDNEY () -- The man accused of murdering seven young backpackers might have been part of a team of killers snuffing out hitchhikers southwest of Sydney, the chief prosecutor said Tuesday.

The prosecution opened its case by saying it would produce the only victim to survive an attack by Ivan Robert Marko Milat, charged with seven slayings, including two Britons and three Germans.

But prosecutor Mark Tedeschi said it was possible that Milat had accomplices: "The Crown is not able to prove if the accused acted alone, or with others."
