Romania Prods IMF

BUCHAREST () -- Romania's ruling party has urged the International Monetary Fund to rethink a delay on a $70 million loan due to problems in the foreign exchange market.

Adrian Nastase, of the Party of Social Democracy, suggested to an IMF representative that the IMF look beyond economic theory. He thought the move unfair in the overall context. The IMF is linked to a row in the interbank market that led the National Bank of Romania to suspend local foreign exchange dealer licenses to all but four banks.
