Potyomkin Deputized

MOSCOW ( -- Alexander Potyomkin, the Central Bank's head of foreign operations, was appointed a deputy chairman of the bank Monday, boosting his chances to join its board of directors.

Potyomkin, 40, worked for nine years at Vneshekonombank, the ex-Soviet bank for foreign trade, before joining the Central Bank. He headed the Central Bank's international operations division from 1991 to 1993 before moving to the foreign operations division, Interfax reported. He speaks English and German, the agency said.
