Guerrillas Leave Shrine

SRINAGAR, India () -- A group of armed separatist guerrillas was leaving Kashmir's holiest shrine on Tuesday where they had been holed up for two days, police said.

"They are surrendering. Some of them have already come out. The surrender is in progress," police superintendent Niaz Mehmood told Reuters.

Mehmood said that as far as he knew there were no conditions attached to the surrender.

More than two dozen guerrillas from the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front entered the Hazratbal shrine on Sunday after a gunbattle with police in which at least 11 people -- two police and nine guerrillas -- were killed.
