Grain Union: No Quotas

Russia's Grain Union, which groups the country's biggest grain traders, slammed on Monday a government proposal to introduce trade curbs, but declined to explain how possible imports might be affected.

The union said in a statement that any import quotas would lead to price hikes and give the state too much power over the domestic grain market. It put Russia's total food and feed grain import needs between now and the next harvest at up to 5 million tons.
