Dead End Drafted

TORONTO () -- Another Canadian Football League club has drafted another dead player.

The draftee was defensive end James Eggink of Northern Illinois, who died of cancer last December at age 23.

"It's an unfortunate situation but unfortunately neither we nor any other club knew what had happened," league spokesman Jim Neish said. "Even the school wasn't aware of it."

Last year, the Ottawa Rough Riders selected defensive end Derrell Robertson in the Las Vegas Posse dispersal draft after he had died in a car crash.
