Caterpillars in Russia

PEORIA, Illinois () -- Caterpillar Inc. said Tuesday it has received a $4.8 million order for six of its largest generator sets, which will be used to generate electricity in coal mines and oil wells in Russia.

The project is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, the company said.

The use of the generators, which will be built at Caterpillar's unit in Lafayette, Indiana, is the first application in Russia of the generators, which make electricity from naturally occurring gas in coal mines and oil wells.
