3 Reactors on Agenda

MOSCOW ( -- Russia, shrugging off concern about the safety of its civilian nuclear installations, plans to bring three new reactors online in the next two years.

Nuclear Power Ministry spokesman Vitaly Nasonov said Friday that two of the reactors were already half-finished, but had been mothballed. A third, near the city of Tver some two hours drive from Moscow, would be new.

They would add 3,000 megawatts of capacity to the Russian nuclear grid, which generates 12 percent of the country's electricity.
