Tories Deny Cover-up

LONDON (Reuters) -- Britain's Trade Secretary Ian Lang said Thursday the inquiry into arms sales to Iraq before the Gulf War absolved two ministers most involved and found no intention to deceive parliament or send innocent men to jail.

Lang, speaking at the release of the report, said officials acted honestly and Britain's policy to Iraq was sound. He said the report vindicated Chief Secretary to the Treasury William Waldegrave and Attorney General Sir Nicholas Lyell.
