Sri Lanka Scares Ump

DUNEDIN, New Zealand () -- Leading New Zealand cricket umpire Steve Dunne is considering following the example of the Australian and West Indies teams by refusing to control World Cup matches scheduled for Sri Lanka.

Dunne is scheduled to umpire in two of the four World Cup matches to be played in Sri Lanka, but said he was considering withdrawing after a bomb blast last week in downtown Colombo killed at least 76 people and injured 1,4000.

"Before Australia and the West Indies withdrew I was prepared to take the advice of the organizers, but clearly there are serious security concerns and I've had second thoughts,'' Dunne said Wednesday.
