Slezevicius Rejects Post

VILNIUS, Lithuania () -- The former prime minister of Lithuania, Adolfas Slezevicius, has turned down President Algirdas Brazauskas' offer to become Lithuania's ambassador in London, Interfax reported Tuesday.

Slezevicius was forced out of office earlier this month by the Lithuanian parliament after he refused to heed calls for his resignation.

Slezevicius resigned as the chairman of Lithuania's ruling Democratic Party of Labor and suspended his party membership in order to prevent the party from splitting into factions, Interfax quoted his office as saying Tuesday.
