Romasko Wins Gold

RUHPOLDING, Germany () -- Olga Romasko clinched the second gold medal for Russia at the biathlon World Championships when she shot faultlessly and won the 7.5-kilometer sprint.

"I can't believe it, it's just incredible," said the Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, skier on Thursday. Romasko, 27, lags behind in the World Cup in 25th place and is usually not known for a steady hand on the shooting range.

But she shot perfectly and clinched the race with a time of 22 minutes, 30.5 seconds. Ann Elen Skjelbreid of Norway was second in 22:49.9 (one penalty lap), while the bronze went to Magdalena Wallin of Sweden, who had no misses, in 22:52.5.
