Poland Remembers Jews

WARSAW () -- President Aleksander Kwasniewski urged Friday that commemorations of a 1946 pogrom in the Polish town of Kielce be held as a way of opening a new chapter in ties between Poland and Jewish communities worldwide.

He met World Jewish Congress Vice President Kalman Sultanik to discuss the anniversary and the return of property that belonged to more than 3 million Polish Jews who were murdered by Nazi German invaders in World War II.
