Philadelphia Bedevils Jersey With 4-1 Victory

PHILADELPHIA -- John LeClair scored his 30th goal and Philadelphia finally beat New Jersey, handing the Devils just their second loss in 12 games, 4-1.

The Devils entered Monday's game 3-0 against the Flyers this season after beating them in the Eastern Conference finals last season, and were 6-1-4 in their previous 11 games overall.

Philadelphia scored twice within 46 seconds in the third period. With 15:38 to go, Rod Brind'Amour knocked in his own rebound for his 17th goal. LeClair then passed to Dan Quinn in the slot, and Quinn slapped it in.

Red Wings 4, Canucks 3. In Detroit, Sergei Fedorov completed a three-goal Detroit flurry midway through the second period. Fedorov's goal, his 27th, followed scores by Vladimir Konstantinov and Nicklas Lidstrom in a 5:02 span of the second period and brought Detroit back from a 3-1 deficit.

Avalanche 7, Oilers 5. In Denver, Patrick Roy became the second youngest goaltender to reach 300 victories with the help of Peter Forsberg's second career hat trick.

Roy, slightly more than five months past his 30th birthday, was denied in his two previous attempts at No. 300. Terry Sawchuk was two months past his 30th birthday when he reached 300.

Bruins 3, Kings 3, OT. In Inglewood, California, Jari Kurri scored with 3:40 left in the third period and Kevin Stevens got his first goal for Los Angeles against his former team.

Lightning 4, Stars 2. In St. Petersburg, Florida, Daren Puppa returned from a two-game absence due to back spasms to stop 29 shots and Rob Zamuner had a goal and an assist for Tampa Bay.

The victory tied Tampa Bay with New Jersey for seventh place in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
