Mass Grave Uncovered

VIENNA () -- Austrian construction workers uncovered up to nine skeletons believed to be the remains of Jews in a suspected World War II Nazi mass grave, Austrian radio said Wednesday.

The construction workers were excavating a site for a controversial new power plant in northern Austria when they discovered the bones in an area near one of Austria's most notorious death camps at Mauthausen.

A team from the Austrian Jewish association has been sent to the site, some 200 kilometers west of Vienna, to investigate the remains, which were believed to be those of Hungarian Jews who died on a death march. Building work in the immediate vicinity of the graves has been halted.
