Lithuania to Modernize

VILNIUS () -- The Lithuanian government has approved an investment program of around 7.8 billion litas (about $2 billion) to upgrade and modernize key areas of its infrastructure, a government spokesman said Friday.

The plan has been approved as the country faces its largest banking crisis since regaining independence in 1991.

It will be funded 39.8 percent from the budget, 43.7 percent from foreign credits and 16.5 percent from the private sector.
