Car Race Sponsors

INDIANAPOLIS () -- The U.S. 500 has attracted three more sponsors for the IndyCar race that will be run May 26 opposite the Indianapolis 500.

Pennzoil, Texaco and Indeck, an Illinois-based equipment company that has sponsored IndyCar driver Teo Fabi in the past, will pay $200,000 each to sponsor the race at Brooklyn, Michigan, the Indianapolis Star reported Thursday.

Earlier this week, Toyota Motor Corp. and the Mercedes-Benz unit of Germany's Dailmer-Benz AG also said they would sponsor the U.S. 500.

Championship Auto Racing Teams, which sanctions the longstanding IndyCar circuit, is promoting the Michigan race in a feud with Tony George, president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and developer of a rival Indy-car series, the fledgling Indy Racing League.
