Barkley Pulls Down Rebound No. 10,000

PHOENIX -- Charles Barkley grabbed his 10,000th rebound as the Phoenix Suns beat the Vancouver Grizzlies 98-94.


Michael Finley scored six of his 26 points in overtime on Monday, and Barkley, who collected his 20,000th point earlier this month, had 17 points and 14 rebounds. His first rebound made him the 10th player in NBA history to amass 10,000 rebounds as well.


"As a personal goal it's the ultimate for me," Barkley said of his rebounding. "It's a thing that got me to the NBA, and I'm very proud of any rebounding accomplishment I get. This is a very special one and it's great to be on a very exclusive list. I'm glad it happened at home and I'm glad it's over."


Barkley finished with his 15th straight double-double since his return from an injury Jan. 21st.


Nets 99, Bullets 81. In Landover, Maryland, Shawn Bradley scored a season-high 27 points as the New Jersey Nets stretched their winning streak to a season-best four games by beating the Washington Bullets 99-81.


Bradley also had nine rebounds and four blocks in his best game since coming to the Nets from Philadelphia in November. He easily eclipsed his previous season high of 23 points and missed matching his career best by one point.


Cavaliers 73, Heat 70. In Cleveland, Terrell Brandon scored 27 points, including two clinching free throws with 3.4 seconds left, and the Cavaliers got their eighth straight victory.


Pistons 113, Timberwolves 83. In Auburn Hills, Michigan, Terry Mills scored 13 of his 17 points during the second quarter, and Detroit Pistons went to on to its largest victory margin since a 121-81 victory at Orlando on Jan. 26, 1991.


Warriors 112, Mavericks 100. In Dallas, Latrell Sprewell scored 22 points as Golden State sent Dallas to its seventh loss in eight games.


B.J. Armstrong and Joe Smith scored 19 points each, and Rony Seikaly had 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Warriors.


Rockets 118, Kings 111, OT. In Houston, Hakeem Olajuwon scored 40 points.


Houston gave the ball inside to Olajuwon in the overtime. After he gave Houston a 109-107 lead, Sam Cassell made eight straight free throws.


SuperSonics 102, Hawks 94. In Seattle, Shawn Kemp scored 21 points and Detlef Schrempf added 20 as Seattle won its seventh straight.


Sam Perkins added 17 points for the SuperSonics. ()
