Accused Wears Proof

LUMBERTON, North Carolina () -- The district attorney prosecuting a man in the slaying of Michael Jordan's father ended testimony from his key witness with a disclosure that made the audience gasp -- the defendant, Daniel Andre Green, wore the victim's pants to court last week.

The testimony came Tuesday from Larry Martin Demery, who was Green's childhood friend and also charged with the murder in the case. Demery, 20, pleaded guilty and agreed to testify against Green, 21. Both face possible death sentences.

Demery said two suits were taken from James Jordan's car after he and defendant Green dropped the body in a South Carolina swamp. District Attorney Johnson Britt asked Demery when he had last seen the suits.

"The last time I saw one of the suits being worn -- it was only the pants -- was last week right here in this courtroom,' Demery said.

Jordan was shot to death in July 1993 as he napped in his car on a North Carolina road.
