Man Dies in Ship Fire

MOSCOW () -- A fire broke out on a nuclear-powered icebreaker ship in northwestern Russia on Monday, killing one person, officials said.

The blaze caused no damage to the power system of the ship, in the Murmansk port on the Kola peninsula, and no radiation was released, the Nuclear Ministry said.

The fire started in a mechanic's cabin and workers were able to extinguish it within a half-hour, but they were unable to save the mechanic, the Emergency Situations Ministry said.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
