IMF Mission Leaves

MOSCOW () -- The International Monetary Fund has wrapped up its evaluations of Russia for the year, with decisions on granting delayed loan installments pending until January.

Thomas Wolf, chief of the IMF mission in Moscow, told Interfax a monitoring team had returned to Washington on Sunday after almost a week studying economic data for November and the first half of December.

The mission, which also discussed structural reforms for 1997, will return in mid-January to draft recommendations for the IMF board on whether to release further tranches of Russia's $10 billion loan facility, Wolf told the agency.
