Aussies Quell Welsh Fightback To Crown Campese's Final Test

CARDIFF, Wales -- Wales did their best to spoil David Campese's final test appearance but could not prevent Australia from completing a clean sweep of international wins on their tour of Europe.

The Wallabies won 28-19 at Cardiff Arms Park, weathering a second-half fightback from the home side who trailed 18-6 at halftime before finally clinching victory with a penalty try.

Welsh hopes were dramatically re-ignited 13 minutes into the second half when center Gareth Thomas intercepted a pass and raced 90 meters to score and bring his side within two points.

Jonathan Davies converted and put Wales 19-18 ahead with a penalty, but the Wallabies deservedly finished on top.

England was given a glimpse of the latest wave of All Black talent as they tumbled to a 34-19 defeat against New Zealand at Twickenham.

Despite leading 19-13 early in the second-half, the home side was undone by a late flurry of New Zealand scoring.

Playing impressive, powerful rugby South Africa, outclassed a depleted French side 22-12.

The visitors built their victory in the first half with two tries by James Small and Andre Joubert and three penalties by flyhalf Henry Honiball.
