Alcohol Revenue Urged

MOSCOW () -- Sergei Glazyev, an economic adviser to the Security Council, called for the creation of a state monopoly on alcohol, saying that doing so would have a major effect on budget revenues, Interfax reported.

"Such a move would help increase state revenues two to three times," Glazyev said, adding that the government had not carried out such a move earlier "because the director of the International Monetary Fund demanded that such a law could not be introduced."
