Seattle Logs 11th Win, Jazz Ends Bulls' Quest

NEW YORK -- The Seattle SuperSonics encountered little resistance from the New York Knicks and won their 11th straight game 102-92 behind double-figure scoring by five players.

Shawn Kemp scored 22 points, Detlef Schrempf had 17, Gary Payton had 16 points and 11 assists, Sam Perkins made five three-pointers and scored 15 points and Hersey Hawkins also had 15 for Seattle.

Patrick Ewing shot just 2-for-15 for New York and scored eight points, only the 32nd time in his career that he has failed to score in double digits.

Jazz 105, Bulls 100. At Salt Lake City on Saturday Chicago finally lost its first game of the season as Karl Malone scored 36 points and Utah took advantage of a costly technical foul on Dennis Rodman.

Malone's jumper with 29 seconds left gave Utah a lead it never relinquished, and the Jazz scored their last five points at the free throw line, aided by the technical that got Rodman kicked out of the game with 13.9 seconds left.

Utah snapped the Bulls' season-opening win streak at 12 games.

Chicago, which got 44 points from Michael Jordan, was attempting to break the NBA record of 15 straight wins to open a season. ()
