Norman Wins at Home

SYDNEY () -- Greg Norman had a flawless 3 under-par final round of 69 on Sunday to win the Australian Open by eight strokes -- his second successive triumph after winning last year at Kingston Heath in Melbourne.

Norman had an aggregate total of 280, 8-under par, over the par-72 course.

Tiger Woods was 12 shots adrift in his first professional tournament outside the United States.

In South Africa, Ernie Els and Wayne Westner won the World Cup of Golf in style with a fabulous 29 under-par aggregate of 547 on the tight Erinvale Country Club course.

It was a double triumph for the South Africans, who also took first and second place in the individual competition.
