WASHINGTON () -- According to a poll by Wirthlin Worldwide, 9 percent of U.S. voters surveyed said information they found on the Internet influenced their Nov. 5 votes, a figure that translates into about 8.5 million people across the country.

Other recent surveys have reported that 10 percent to 12 percent of voters viewed politically oriented Internet sites during the campaign.
