Dumping Charged

OREM, Utah () -- Geneva Steel, in concert with Gulf States Steel, has filed anti-dumping petitions with the U.S. Department of Commerce targeting Russia, Ukraine, China and South Africa.

Geneva officials said the petitions allege dumping margins ranging from 139.97 to 230.38 percent for Russia; 201.61 to 274.12 percent for Ukraine; 10.01 to 45.84 for China, and 5.55 to 33.87 for South Africa.

U.S. imports of cut-to-length steel plate from those nations quadrupled from 245,545 tons in 1993 to 967,412 tons in 1995, Geneva and Gulf States charged Tuesday.
