Armenia Cabinet Picked

YEREVAN, Armenia () -- President Levon Ter-Petrosyan appointed a new cabinet on Saturday and issued several decrees on re-organizing the government following his re-election in September.

Ter-Petrosyan named 23 ministers, eight of them first-time appointees.

The president also issued decrees on merging the Interior Ministry and National Security Ministry and ordering the creation of a separate intelligence service.

Ter-Petrosyan gave the new government three months to submit a judicial reform bill and called on it to draft proposals on the security-ministry merger and intelligence service within six months.
