Son of Internet

WASHINGTON () -- Confounded by the global Internet's increasingly overtaxed capacity, 34 research universities have agreed to create a new computer network for their own use dubbed "Internet II."

The network is expected eventually to cost more than $300 million and transmit data more than 10 times faster than the current version of the Internet. It will take from three to five years to develop.
