Russia-India Trade

NEW DELHI () -- Trade between India and Russia, a victim of the Soviet breakup, is gathering speed and is projected to more than double by the turn of the century, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Davydov said Tuesday. Trade between the former Soviet Union and its Cold War ally India stood at $5.5 billion in 1990, just before the end of the Soviet Union. But trade flows, undermined by upheaval in Russia, dried up to $1.1 billion in 1993.
