Rugby Officials Quit

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa () -- Two top rugby officials quit their posts Monday after the dismissal of victorious World Cup captain Francois Pienaar from the Springbok squad.

National selector Ray Mordt, coach for Pienaar's Transvaal provincial side, said he was resigning as a selector immediately.

Pienaar, the Transvaal captain, was dropped Saturday from the Springboks' November-December tour of Argentina, France and Wales by national coach Andre Markgraaff .

Keith Parkinson, a member of the executive committee of the South African Rugby Football Union (SARFU), said he was quitting because of what he described as the shambolic handling of selection for the upcoming tour.
