Mad Cow Coverup?

LONDON () -- Independent scientists accused the British government Thursday of deliberately concealing data about mad cow disease and hampering research into the ailment which has devastated Europe's beef markets.

The scientists told the journal Nature the reluctance of the Ministry of Farming and Agriculture (MAFF) to provide information about Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy resulted from secrecy and insufficient staff to analyze and distribute information. "This has worked to the detriment of the understanding [of the disease] and dissemination of information in general," one scientist said.
