Cray Wins Tenders

WASHINGTON -- A $110.5 million contract to provide Los Alamos National Laboratory with the world's most powerful supercomputer to help determine whether aging nuclear weapons systems are safe and reliable has been awarded to California's Cray Research, the Energy Department said.

Cray also won the contract for a second system, to cost $40 million.

The systems are expected to replace the need for underground testing.
