BP Denies Charges

LONDON () -- British Petroleum on Friday denied accusations that it colludes with the army in Colombia in human rights abuses and that its drilling there is causing grave environmental damage.

John Doust, chief executive of the oil company's subsidiary BP Colombia, disputed allegations that the company gave Colombian death squads video tapes of protesters so they could be identified.

Doust was replying to accusations made Thursday in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, by British member Richard Howitt.
