13 Armenians Charged

YEREVAN, Armenia () -- The Armenian government has charged 13 people in connection with opposition protests in Yerevan, Interfax said Thursday.

It quoted National Security Minister Serzh Sarkisian as saying representatives of the International Red Cross were given permission this week to visit the prisoners.

The cases stem from an opposition demonstration that turned violent outside parliament headquarters in Yerevan, the Armenian capital, after the Sept. 22 presidential election.
